I'm wondering the difference between +40AR and the reduction that the Mantras of {elements} absorb. I know the Mantras give you energy, but does the armor rating compare?

Mantras of {Elements} are better for a specific purpose because they reduce damage by a percentage (up to 50%). Elemental Resistance can protect you from 50% damage too, but when that elemental damage ignores armor (or penatrates it), you are at a greater disadvantage compared to the Mantra seris.

Example... vs. an Obsidian Flame attack, Mantra of Earth should reduce it by 50%, whereas Elemental Resistance won't affect it at all. I haven't checked this specific example, but it should work this way. I'll report back if I'm wrong.

Elemental resistance works off of your armor level being boosted, which obsidian flame ignores anyways. Mantra's reduce the damage after armor by a percentage, but it only affects a certain elemental type.
